A Confederacy of Dunces was written by John Kennedy Toole in the 1960's, but he committed suicide before it was published. His mother took the book to Walker Percy, a professor at Loyola Univeristy, who helped her get it published. The book went on to be a Pulitzer Prize winner and is one of the funniest books ever written.
